Before release, Batomon Showdown went through a playtest and then a demo. The demo launched on 27 April 2026 and was patched from 0.3 up to 0.8.5, until it came down on 14 September 2026 at 09:00 EST along with Season 0.

Season 0’s rewards were two badge case skins: one for reaching Gold and one for reaching Master, both granted at the start of Season 1. No rank or save carry-over was ever promised, which is why plenty of players found their progress missing on launch day.

Playtest and demo are two different stages

A playtest came before the public demo. The evidence is a section in the demo launch announcement headed Playtest Changelog, listing the changes between the playtest and the first demo build and stating that achievement stickers already earned in the Batopedia during the playtest would be granted retroactively.

When the playtest started and how you joined it has never been published, so this page records it only as a stage that existed rather than inventing dates.

The milestones that mattered

The demo was not fixed at launch. It went through more than a dozen updates, and a few of them still shape the game today.

15 May 2026 moved Market License from an item to a trinket and added Shady Contract and two bait items. On 21 May poison stopped ignoring shields. On 24 May the shield reduction against status damage moved to 25%.

11 June was the heaviest single update: Mythical rarity, ranked mode, and the unification of every cooldown effect into Cooldown Speed. 16 June added Extended Mode, allowing a run to continue to day 40.

1 July added Shopkeeper and full controller support while removing Shady Contract and reworking Swim Coach. 24 August confirmed the 15 September release and dropped shield’s status reduction to 15%.

The complete entry-by-entry record is on the patch history page.

What Season 0 actually paid out

Two badge case skins, one for reaching Gold and one for reaching Master, granted at the start of Season 1, which the developer confirmed in the 14 September announcement.

It was not a rank carry-over. Season 0 paid out by rank, which makes it easy to assume the rank itself moved across, but the only thing promised was the skins.

Why progress did not carry over

Only two facts can be confirmed.

The demo and the release are different Steam products. The demo was its own app, and it is retired.

The developer promised badge case skins, and nothing about rank or save carry-over.

Players were already discussing this before launch, and some testing showed the demo’s rank living in a separate profile from the release build. Put together, that explains why so many people found themselves back at Bronze 8 on launch day. Strictly speaking the sentence “ranks do not carry over” was never said by the developer, so this page describes it as player testing plus product structure rather than quoting an official statement.

What is left after the demo

The itch.io build survives. The developer’s itch.io page still hosts a browser-playable older demo, with content frozen at the demo era and support for English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.

The release build lives on Steam and Google Play, and includes the Jinto region, six new trainers, ranked seasons and all of 1.0.0’s content.

The old demo store address now redirects to the Steam homepage rather than a product page.

Telling whether a guide is from the old build

Check for the words Season 0, Demo or Playtest. Any of them means the content predates 15 September 2026.

Check for the Jinto region or the six new trainers. If neither appears, it is old content.

Check whether seasons or a hard reset are mentioned, since seasons only arrived in 1.0.0.

Finally, check for mechanics that no longer exist. “Poison ignores shield”, “reduce cooldown by X seconds” and “hold a low shop rank and farm buffs” are all dead.
